We had a nice audience last night as Demolition Dreaming played in the Northrup King Building as part of a new series by the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA) called Art N|Motion.
Next up: Demolition Dreaming will be playing near Duluth at the amazing Free Range Film Festival on July 28th!

Demolition Dreaming at Art N/Motion July 6th
It looks like Demolition Dreaming is going to have a screening on July 6th in the evening as part of Art N/Motion at the Northrup King Building in Northeast Minneapolis, home of the Quarry Shopping Center, as featured in the movie. Art N/Motion is a project by NEMAA, the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association, to feature member artists in monthly events. The screening is going to be at 7 pm in the third floor gallery. This screening will feature the film with pre-recorded music and narration. There will be info when we have it!

Dreamland Faces Record Release Show Screening
The third screening of Demolition Dreaming was last Tuesday, March 21, at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis. It was a live performance of the music and narration as part of the Dreamland Faces Record Release show. Dreamland Faces brought out their new phonograph record of 6 of their compositions, most of which are part of the Demolition Dreaming score. The soundtrack performance by Dreamland Faces and Jill Underwood was wonderful. I got a few nice comments from people who saw the film after the screening.
There are no more screenings on the schedule for now. Hopefully there will be some more before too long!
The film hasn't had much luck so far at film festivals. The film had its premiere with live soundtrack at the Square Lake Film Festival, but since then it hasn't gotten an acceptance. Hopefully that will change!

The Gateway Show at the Trylon Microcinema
Demolition Dreaming's second ever screening was two sold-out shows at the Trylon Microcinema. It was paired with "Skidrow," John Bacich's narrated movies of the life around his bar in the Gateway District. James Eli Shiffer, who wrote the book, The King of Skid Row, was around to sign copies of his book, and the whole show was the work of Peter Schilling. My film was accompanied by Dreamland Faces and Jill Underwood. Here are some photos:

Premiere at Square Lake Film Festival
Demolition Dreaming premiered at the Square Lake Film and Music Festival on August 20th in a screening with live soundtrack by Dreamland Faces and Jill Underwood. The film projected on the big screen under the stars at the beautiful tree-lined hillside where the festival takes place.
It was a pretty amazing night. Special thanks go the Paul Creager, organizer of the festival, who made it all possible.

MinnPost article on Demolition Dreaming
Bill Lindeke wrote a pretty incredible piece about Demolition Dreaming in MinnPost today, which is the day before the premiere at the Square Lake Festival tomorrow. He added a great deal of context to help folks understand the film with information about the Gateway District and my process of making it. Here is the story.
